This was an absolutely unbelievable game to go to. The Angels took the lead first, Red Sox took it back with a 5 run inning, fell behind again, and then eventually tied it up on a bases loaded 2-out walk in the bottom of the 9th by Nick Green, and won 9-8 on an Alex Gonzalez walk-off single. Incredible. Apparently, Nick Green should have struck out twice in that plate appearance, but it was hard to tell from where I was at that point in the game. Front row, on the field.
Front row!

Before the game, I took the guided tour of Fenway. I mostly wanted to get up to the Green Monster seats, but the whole tour was very well done. The tour started out in the Red Sox team store, which was absolutely huge. This picture is only a small section of it, the place was insane.

From there, we went into Fenway to the Budweiser Roof Deck seats.

Then it was to the seats right behind the plate, and from there to the Green Monster. The view from the Monster is pretty cool.

After the tour, before the game, I met up with Byron, and we went to Boston Beer Works. We had a drink while waiting for a table, but ended up just leaving instead of eating there. We were second on the list at that point, but wanted to go into the park instead. I had a Blueberry Ale, which actually had blueberries in it. They would float up and down in the beer because of the carbon dioxide they were giving off.

I got a nice picture of the red bleacher seat, marking the longest home run in Fenway history. It was a 502 foot shot by Ted Williams.

I really wanted to get my standard stadium shot, too. The upper deck at Fenway are exclusive sections, though, and tickets weren’t that easy to come by. They wouldn’t let me up there during the first game. I eventually found a pavilion standing room only ticket on Craigslist for face value ($25), so I bought it. I actually left the park to go pick it up, and used it to get back in. It’s the first time I’ve ever bought two tickets for myself for the same game, but it was worth it.

As always, here’s the whole set of images.

This will be the last shirt in the T-Shirt a Day Challenge. I have a handful more that I could wear, but not nearly enough to make it through another month, so I’m going to end it here.

Yes, that’s a Gameboy playing a DS Lite. :)

Bad Habit   Bad Habit

Today’s shirt comes to you courtesy of the fact that I don’t plan to leave the house today. I don’t think I could wear it in public, at least not without a jacket covering it up. It’s a shame, because I like the front of it a lot. It’s also too bit for me.

I bought it at a concert in Pittsburgh when I was in college, at the Igloo (Civic Arena, now Mellon Arena). Thanks to Google, I was able to track down the exact date: March 6, 1999. I’ve had this shirt just about 10 years, and probably worn it no more than a half dozen times. You can still get one at The Offspring’s store, here.

For those of you who have no idea what this is about, here you go:

I drive more like the people he’s getting mad at in the song than the guy singing it. Still love it.

Save the Clock Tower!

Save the clock tower! Save the clock tower. Mayor Wilson is sponsoring an initiative to replace that clock. Thirty years ago, lightning struck that clock tower and the clock hasn’t run since. We at the Hill Valley Preservation Society think it should be preserved exactly the way it is as part of our history and heritage.

(Here you go, lady. There’s a quarter.)

It’s been a good, but tiring, trip so far. A pretty typical Thanksgiving dinner. No shopping on Black Friday. Well, no shopping in physical stores… I picked up a Sony S350 blu-ray player from Dell. $194 shipped, after tax. Today, went to NJ to my brother’s place, and spent the day there with them. Evan is as cute as ever, and talking a ton. He’s a smart little guy.

Not really much else going on right now, I guess. I’m absolutely exhausted.

Probably won’t have much the next few days, either.

I need to stop procrastinating. I should be packing, because tomorrow night I fly to NY for Thanksgiving. Instead, I’m watching TV, playing Rock Band, writing a post… I should really get to it already.

I think I’ll go watch last week’s 30 Rock now.

Well, it looks like that trip to Fry’s may not be necessary. I’ll have to wait a little longer for a bunch of my stuff, but Futurlec has prices on a lot of this stuff that Fry’s won’t be able to beat. Specifically, their Value Packs are a great deal. I ordered a bunch of stuff from there, so hopefully I will have the random components I will need for the near future.

Tonight could be a very long night, or a very short one. It’s the softball playoffs. We’re in second place, so we play the third place team. If we win that game, we have to beat the first place team twice to win the league. I’m really not sure what I want to happen. Three games in one night is a lot, but it’d be fun to win.

I guess that’s it for today. Time to go play softball…

My sunglasses broke this morning. Annoyed. They were just fine last night, and I picked them up today and it just came apart.

Dammit

A while ago, Sandisk and Adorama had some great prices on their Extreme IV CF cards. They required rebates, but I generally don’t mind those and don’t have problems with them. So far, this time seems no different. This rebate, though, was in the form of a Visa debit card, that expires 3/09. That’s really not too much of a problem for me. I immediately used it to buy myself an Amazon gift certificate which will just sit in my account until I decide to spend it. Amazon credit is as good as cash for me. I placed two orders with these rebates, so I should have another $160 card coming, too.

Maybe I’ll spend some of that money on a new pair of sunglasses. Dammit.

Damn, almost forgot to post today. Not really much to say, though.

Woot has a Blu-ray player for only $140. Only blu-ray 1.1, but so tempting. Dammit.

Yesterday, went to the bay area. Played some board games, Rock Band 2, Gears of War 2. It was fun.

Yeah, really nothing to say. Maybe it’ll be more interesting tomorrow.

One day into NaBloPoMo, and I’m already feeling unmotivated about writing every day. I may have to make a minor change to the rules for myself and only commit to doing it Monday through Friday. Those days I sit at a computer at work all day, often with nothing to do. Not that I’m don’t sit at a computer most of the rest of the time, too, but…

Halloween was yesterday. In addition to the pumpkins that I already posted about, I actually had a costume for the first time since… I don’t even know when. It was a last minute thing, so I needed something easy, but I didn’t want to just go and buy a pre made costume. I decided on Frank West, from Dead Rising. Everything I needed was bought at either Costco or Kmart, or I already had it.

The blood on the shirt isn’t great in this picture. I added more later. The whole thing was really just an excuse to carry around my camera and a baseball bat.

Obviously, I knew I wasn't the only person in the world with this problem, but the similarities and accuracy here are just incredible: Agony and Rapture.

Hell, it's like she's even read and following some of the suggestions on this page.
